Context
Travel agencies relied on custom-built websites and manually managed content, customer inquiries, and partner placements. Development was time-consuming, while growth required continuously expanding operational teams. We built a white-label SaaS platform that combined a customer-facing travel service with the tools required to manage agency operations.
Challenge
Automate the launch and operation of a travel agency within a single white-label product. The platform needed to enable agencies to independently:
launch a service under their own brand;
manage travel content;
receive and process customer inquiries;
publish partner offers.
My Role
I led product design and frontend development:
defined the platform’s UX architecture;
designed customer and administrative workflows;
created a token-based branding system;
translated business requirements into technical solutions;
co-developed the product strategy with the CEO;
coordinated product designers, engineers, and sales managers.
Strategy
Scale the platform through standardization: build the core functionality once and reuse it to launch each new agency. The strategy focused on three business goals:
reduce client onboarding costs — use a shared product core and customize only the brand layer;
reduce agencies’ operating costs — move content and inquiry management into a self-service dashboard;
increase platform revenue — monetize priority placements for hotel partners.
Solutions
Shared product core and configurable themes
All agencies used the same functionality, page structure, content modules, and inquiry workflows. Colors, typography, imagery, and logos were configured through a design-token system. Each agency’s brand could be applied without modifying the functional code, reducing the standard launch time to approximately one hour.
Content automation and the journey to inquiry
Our analysis of agency operations showed that managers spent a significant amount of time searching for tours, preparing selections, and keeping their websites up to date. Travelers faced a fragmented experience: tours, hotels, and destination information were disconnected from one another.
We automated the upload and publication of tours, hotels, destinations, attractions, and news across all agency websites. The content was connected through shared navigation and filtering. This reduced manual content work for agencies and gave travelers a clear journey from exploring a destination and comparing offers to submitting an inquiry.
Platform management
The administrative system was divided into two role-based environments. The Super Admin allowed the platform team to onboard agencies, manage access, configure the platform, and control shared content. The Agency Dashboard gave agencies a self-service workspace for customizing their brand and managing customer inquiries from submission to resolution. By moving recurring tasks into standardized workflows, agencies reduced their operational teams from ten managers to just one or two.
Hotel partner monetization
We introduced a tiered promotion model for hotel partners, with visibility determined by placement priority and audience reach. Premium partners appeared in the homepage hero slider, while other paid placements were integrated into themed carousels, the Top 10 section, and filtered catalog results. This created an additional B2B revenue stream and increased revenue from hotel partners by 12%.
Results
The platform replaced custom development with a repeatable launch model. Agencies gained a customer-facing website, an administrative system, and inquiry management within a single product. New clients could be onboarded without proportional team growth, while paid partner placements created an additional source of revenue.
Metric | Result |
|---|---|
Revenue (B2B hotel partner layer) | +12% |
Team scaling (1-2 managers instead of 10 per agency) | -80% |
Time to launch (Standard setup down to 1 hour) | -95% |
